Dear CWC Parents,
First, I want to thank everyone who came out to support the club at this past weekend's Casino Night. It was a fantastic evening. Veritas was packed, and everyone that I've spoken with had a wonderful time. (As an added bonus, pretty much everyone left with some type of prize at the end of the evening.) Most exciting, we raised important funds to support the Cavalier Wrestling Club and the sport of wrestling in central Virginia! If you were not able to make it, I would encourage you talk with some of the other parents who were in attendance. They will fill you in on the evening, and hopefully even more people will be able to join us next year.
Now, onto this week's updates. Please read below for important information about our upcoming "Under the Lights" match this coming Friday.
All practices are taking place as scheduled this week: With no men's basketball games, all practices are a go this week. Advanced practice will take place at UVA tomorrow night and Pee Wee practice will take place at Charlottesville High School. Thursday night's live wrestling practice will take place at UVA. All practices will begin at 6 pm.
Good luck middle school wrestlers!: Good luck to our middle school guys as they travel to Wilson Memorial High School for a match tomorrow (Tuesday) night. Advanced practice will take place as scheduled for the all non-middle school advanced wrestlers.
Rescheduled match this Friday - "Under the Lights" at UVA: A few weeks ago, our match with Appomattox and Covenant, which was to take place prior to the UVA's match against Duke, was postponed due to the snow. Good news. The match has been rescheduled for this Friday, February 5. All prior details remain the same. Our wrestlers will have the opportunity to compete in Memorial Gymnasium, preceding UVA's wrestling match against Duke. We will begin wrestling at 4 pm, and we will have pizza available for all the wrestlers after our matches. The UVA match will begin at 7 pm, and we are encouraging all wrestlers and their families to stick around to cheer on the Hoos. Pee Wee parents, please email me at jdw244@hotmail.com no later than Wednesday to let me know if your son will be competing. Elementary/Middle School parents, please email Coach Kammauff at john.kammauff@varian.com no later than Wednesday to let him no if your son will be competing.
Tournament opportunity this Saturday: For those of you with older elementary/middle school wrestlers interested in getting some extra mat time in, this weekend's tournament in Powhatan provides an excellent opportunity. The tournament will take place on Saturday, February 6, and it is for wrestlers in grades 4th-8th. Several club families have already expressed an interest in attending.
