CWC Weekend Events 2/16-18

The Cavalier Wrestling Club and UVA Wrestling have a big weekend ahead, and we hope you can make it to some of our events!
Friday 2/16:
- 6:00 pm: Come cheer on some of our CWC kids as they dual the Midlothian Miners! This will be in the main gym upstairs at Memorial Gym.
- 8:30 pm: Let's pack the stands at Mem Gym for the UVA vs. UNC dual! This is UVA Wrestling's last home dual of the season and senior night.
Saturday 2/17:
- Book a babysitter and join us for our annual Casino Night fundraiser from 5-8 pm! See the attached flyer for details, or click this link: http://www.cavalierwrestlingclub.org/shop/product/281946
Sunday 2/18:
- 2024 Central Regional Youth Tournament - see the attached flyer for instructions on how to register. Note that registration ends Friday 2/16 at midnight.

CWC Announcements 2/11 / Central Regional Tournament

We are down to two weeks left of the Winter Session! The last practice is Thursday, February 22. We will not be offering a Spring Session this year due to renovations at Memorial Gym. We will forward any information we get about summer camps to this group, but feel free to look into camps on your own as well.
If you have not picked up your free black "Cavalier Trained" t-shirt or your order from the Reshot store, please do so at practice. If the boxes are not out, please ask a parent or coach for help. Let me know if you need to arrange another time to pick them up.
The Central VA Regional Youth Tournament is next Sunday 2/18 and all CWC wrestlers are welcome to sign up! Here is some information that was sent to us, and the flyer is attached.
- The location is Orange County High School - 201 Selma Rd, Orange, VA 2296
- This tournament is open to all K-8 wrestlers
- There is no "qualification" criteria for this tournament. All parents have to do, if interested, is sign up
- There is a $5 spectator fee
- Sign up is on trackwrestling.com. A link to the registration is on the attached flyer. If you have never used trackwrestling you may have to set up a free account. Have your wrestlers' USAW numbers ready. Use "Cavalier Wrestling Club" for the club name. If this is your first tournament, you will need headgear and a singlet.
Please let me know if you sign up for this tournament so we know how many CWC kids to expect.

If you ordered something from our CWC Reshot store, great news - it is here! They sent it all together. It will be at practice to pick up starting tonight. Also, if you haven't picked up your wrestler's free "Cavalier Trained" t-shirt, they will be at practice by the sign in sheet as well.

UVA Wrestling has two home duals this year. Come cheer them on! This is a great opportunity for our kids to watch high level wrestling, and they are a lot of fun!
February 2: UVA vs. Virginia Tech at 7pm at John Paul Jones Arena! Please join us for a FREE WRESTLING CLINIC before the dual from 5-6 pm (free pizza for participants - see flyer). Note: JPJ has a clear bag policy - plan accordingly for the clinic.
February 16: UVA vs. UNC at 8:30 pm at Memorial Gym (FREE admission)

- The evening will also include:

Free Wrestling Clinic! - Friday, February 2

Mark your calendars for a FREE wrestling clinic featuring World Bronze Medalist Jay Aiello Friday, February 2 before the Virginia Tech vs. UVA dual from 5-6 pm at John Paul Jones Arena! There will be FREE PIZZA for participants!
Who: Beginner & Advanced Wrestlers
What: Free Wrestling Clinic (free food at the end)

When: Friday 2/2/2024 from 5-6pm
You can stick around after to cheer on the Cavaliers as they battle the Hokies at 7 pm. UVA typically only does one home dual at JPJ, and it's great for kids because they kick it up a notch with the showmanship. They will have a spotlight, free gear between matches, a smoke tunnel and run out songs before each bout, and the band and dance team will perform.

CWC Announcements 1/9

If you have not signed up for the Richmond Metro Youth Wrestling League and wish to wrestle Sunday, please sign up on our website by this Thursday, January 11. As a reminder, this is a league for beginner wrestlers, and it is a great way to learn how to wrestle in tournaments and get some matches in with kids from other teams. The league is a one time payment of $35, which gets you access to 4 matches plus a t-shirt. The matches are at Deep Run High School near Richmond on the following dates:
- Sunday 1/14
- Sunday 1/21
- Sunday 2/4
- Sunday 2/11 RMYWL Champs Tournament

We would love to see you at Casino Night on February 17! This is a fundraiser for the Cavalier Wrestling Club. The CWC has two branches: the scholastic program our kids are in, as well as a USA Wrestling Regional Olympic Training Center that funds athletes such as Jay Aiello. Jay was a USA National Team member last year, and he helps train our kids while he is training to compete at the USA Olympic Team Trials this April.
