Pee Wee Wrestling Practice Tonight!

Dear Parents,
This is just a reminder that our first Pee Wee practice is tonight at 6 pm at Charlottesville High School (1400 Melbourne Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22901.) Tonight's Elementary and Middle School practice had to be cancelled due to the Stevie Wonder Concert at JPJ, but PEE WEE PRACTICE IS STILL ON!
 
To get to the CHS wrestling room, please drive around the side of the Martin Luther King Jr. Performing Arts Center, and park along the curb outside of the side entrance to the building. The wrestling room will be right there.

Fwd: CWC Tuesday Night (Elementary and Middle School) Practice Cancelled

Dear Parents,

It was great seeing so many of you and your kids at tonight's practice.  Unfortunately, due to the Stevie Wonder concert at John Paul Jones Arena tomorrow evening, we will need to cancel Tuesday night's practice. Practice will resume in the UVA wrestling room on Thursday at 6 pm.
 
Pee Wee practice will still take place as scheduled tomorrow night at Charlottesville High School.

CWC Practices Begin This Week: Details here...

Dear CWC Parents, 

This week marks the start of the Cavalier Wrestling Club's Winter Season. We can't wait to begin working with your kids again this year, and I look forward to seeing each of you as the season gets underway! Below you will find some information that will be important for you to know leading into this week's practices.
 
Change of venue and start time for Pee Wee practices (Ages 5 - 7/8)
Pee Wee practices will continue to be held on Tuesday evenings, but they will NO LONGER take place at Albemarle High School. Instead, Pee Wee practices will be held in the Charlottesville High School wrestling room from 6 pm - 7:15 pm. Parents, if at all possible, we ask that you accompany your child to practice. The wrestling room can be found around back of the Martin Luther King Jr. Performing Arts Center. Directions to Charlottesville High School can be found HERE.
 
Schedule for Elementary and Middle School (Ages 8 and up)
The first practice will take place on Monday evening in the UVA Wrestling Room at Onesty Hall (directions HERE). The schedule, unless altered by a University closing or JPJ Event (i.e. concert of basketball game), will be as follows. Each week, CWC wrestlers may choose to attend as many of these practices as they like.

• Basic Mondays, 6 - 7:30 pm: Ideal for beginners and wrestlers who want to refine their fundamental skills. All wrestlers ages 8 and up are encouraged to attend.
• Advanced Tuesdays, 6 - 7:30 pm: Ideal for wrestlers with multiple years of experience and/or for any wrestlers, with a solid grasp of wrestling fundamentals, who want to add to their arsenal of techniques.
• Competition Thursdays, 6 - 7:30 pm: These practices are the opportunity for our CWC wrestlers to test out the moves they've been practicing all week! Thursday nights will feature mostly live wrestling and competition, and wrestlers of all ability levels (ages 8 and up) are encouraged to attend.

 
Necessary Equipment
We encourage all wrestlers to come equipped with headgear and wrestling shoes. (Clean sneakers may be substituted for wrestling shoes, if they have not been worn outside the wrestling room.) A t-shirt and shorts will be sufficient for all practices. Click here to view and purchase wrestling equipment.

COME SUPPORT THE UVA WRESTLING TEAM TOMORROW (SUNDAY) AFTERNOON AS THEY TAKE ON OLD DOMINION!

Match starts at 1 pm at Memorial Gymnasium. This year we plan to put together our own cheering section of CWC wrestling. Come join us!

Parent Meeting - Cavalier Wrestling Club

Dear CWC Parents and Volunteers,
On Wednesday, November 11, at 6 pm, we will be holding a meeting for any parents/volunteers interested in getting more involved with the Cavalier Wrestling Club this year. Parents interested in the following three areas should attend.
 

1. Coaching - For those who want to assist us with the weekly on-the-mat instruction of our CWC wrestlers.
2. Volunteering - For those who want to help us plan and organize CWC events (competition and fundraising) throughout the year.
3. Tournament Network - For those who want to recieve more information about off-season competitions. Our goal is to create a network of parents who will help organize travel and disseminate information about off-season competitions.

 
Pizza and drinks will be provided for all attendees.
