CWC Match Info/Singlets

CWC Parents/Coaches,

A few updates:

1.  The details for the Kammauff City/County Tournament on Saturday are below.
-  Who:  This competition is for 5th-8th grade kids only.  Madison system for grouping.  No onsite weigh-ins.
-  When:  Saturday, 16 Dec.  Arrive at 8, check in ends at 845.  Wrestling starts at 9 and will be done by 1pm.
-  Where:  Charlottesville HS.  In the auxillary gym, enter through the Performing Arts Center.
- Matches are 3 one minute periods.
- All kids will get 2 matches minimum.
- Event is being run by:  Mike McCrory and Chris Wiles (chris.wiles@stvfd.org)
2.  If you are attending the Kammauff City/County Tournament then indicate that you are attending HERE and fill in your age/weight by 5pm on Friday 15 Dec.

3.  I would ask that all other parents also fill in this SPREADSHEET with your sons age, weight, experience, and tee-shirt size.  We are ordering the tee-shirts soon and need this information so that we ensure we will have the appropriate sizes.

4.  I will be selling the singlets at practice tonight so please bring cash/check.  I will also have a computer available so that you can put in an order if we do not have your size.  We will be putting in a group singlet order on 22 Dec, this is a hard deadline for ordering the singlets in order for them arrive for our first Dual match.

4.  For CWC wrestlers that are not old enough to participate in the Kammauff tournament, there is a competition opportunity near Lynchburg.  Some CWC wrestlers/coaches (Burns/Pilkey) will be there to do a group warm up and be in the corner if available, but we will not be able to provide full coaching coverage.

Good luck to all of the kids competing this weekend.

CWC Matches/Gear/Updates

CWC Parents,

A few details and updates.

1.  A club parent (Andy McGinty) has done a great job or organizing matches for the kids this year.  The schedule for the matches can be found here SCHEDULE.  We will be continuing to refine the details (such as arrival time, coaching coverage, age groups, etc) but we wanted to get this out to you all so you can plan.

-          We will send out reminders and details via email and will post on the calendar.
-  Please note, NONE OF THESE ARE REQUIRED, rather we just want to give the kids the opportunity to compete.
-  There are also many other tournaments that go on across the state that give opportunities to compete, but the ones listed on the schedule we will try to have CWC coaches at.
-  As you look at other tournaments note that these will include standard tournaments and ROOKIE tournaments for kids that have been wrestling less than 2 years.

2.      Also the SCHEDULE sheet, please fill out your child's age (or check it), their weight, years of experience, and their tee-shirt size.

-          We will use their age, weight, and experience to help properly match them with opponents during the Dual Matches.
- We need their tee-shirt size for the free CWC tee-shirt that each kid will get.  Please fill this out by 22 Dec so that we can put the order in and have it by our first DUAL match in Jan.

3.      For the Elementary kids.  We will no longer be lending the singlets.

-          We have a inventory of NEW singlets that we will be selling for the prices listed HERE.  We will be bringing these to practice next week so please bring cash or check to practice.
- If we do not have your size then we will (1) see if we have a used singlet, or (2) you can order HERE.  These have to be custom made so we will ask the vendor to put the group order in on 22 Dec so it will be here in time for the first match.
- If there is a financial barrier then please reach out.

4.      For the Pee-Wee kids.  You are also welcome to buy them a singlet.  If we have any older singlets we will lend these or the kids are fine to wrestling in their shorts/shirts.

Hopefully your kids are enjoying the season.

CWC Feedback - April 2017

CWC Parents/Supporters,

A couple of updates:

-          We are continually trying to improve and give the kids the best experience possible.  An important part of this is trying to gather feedback, please reach out to Jimmy Burns and Tommy Mello to provide feedback on:

o   What went well?

o   What could be improved?

o   Ideas for future sessions?

-          I want to acknowledge and thank all of the parent volunteers that helped out with many different aspects of the club this year.  Your support was greatly appreciated.

o   We will be setting up some more formal roles for parent participation for the upcoming year and we hope that we will have similarly enthusiastic participation.

-          Even though the season is over please consider continuing to support the CWC via the Kroger Card reward program.

o   1.  Get a Krogers card

o   2.  Go to Krogers.com and create an account

o   3.  Click on "community" the tab at the top.  Go to Kroger community rewards

o   4.  Go to enroll or re-enroll now

o   5.  Go to Edit

o   6.  Search for Cavalier wrestling club or enter 93606

o   7.  The enrollment needs to be renewed every year.

o   DETAILS:  Once you have enrolled 5% of everything you buy(except gas)  is donated to the Cavalier Wrestling Club.  Often they will have deals such as double rewards when buying gift cards etc.   If you buy $100 in groceries the club gets $5.

I hope that you all have a great off season.  For those of you with kids that want to stay on the mat, the Spring Session is underway, there will be the UVA camps this summer, and we will have a Fall Session.  Please see the web-site for announcements and details.

NCAA update

All,

A quick update on NCAA wrestling:

UVA has two semi finalists for the first time in school history. They will wrestle on ESPN at 7:00 tonight.

125 lbs (first weight class) true freshman #10 Jack Mueller vs #6 Ethan Lizak (Minnesota). Lizak beat Jack earlier this season.

141 lbs (3rd weight class) senior #6 George DiCamillo vs #10 Bryce Meredith (Wyoming). I don't think they ever wrestled before.

Currently in sixth place
