Dear CWC Parents,
This week marks the start of the Cavalier Wrestling Club's Winter Season. We can't wait to begin working with your kids again this year, and I look forward to seeing each of you as the season gets underway! Below you will find some information that will be important for you to know leading into this week's practices.
Change of venue and start time for Pee Wee practices (Ages 5 - 7/8)
Pee Wee practices will continue to be held on Tuesday evenings, but they will NO LONGER take place at Albemarle High School. Instead, Pee Wee practices will be held in the Charlottesville High School wrestling room from 6 pm - 7:15 pm. Parents, if at all possible, we ask that you accompany your child to practice. The wrestling room can be found around back of the Martin Luther King Jr. Performing Arts Center. Directions to Charlottesville High School can be found HERE.
Schedule for Elementary and Middle School (Ages 8 and up)
The first practice will take place on Monday evening in the UVA Wrestling Room at Onesty Hall (directions HERE). The schedule, unless altered by a University closing or JPJ Event (i.e. concert of basketball game), will be as follows. Each week, CWC wrestlers may choose to attend as many of these practices as they like.
Necessary Equipment
We encourage all wrestlers to come equipped with headgear and wrestling shoes. (Clean sneakers may be substituted for wrestling shoes, if they have not been worn outside the wrestling room.) A t-shirt and shorts will be sufficient for all practices. Click here to view and purchase wrestling equipment.

- Basic Mondays, 6 - 7:30 pm: Ideal for beginners and wrestlers who want to refine their fundamental skills. All wrestlers ages 8 and up are encouraged to attend.
- Advanced Tuesdays, 6 - 7:30 pm: Ideal for wrestlers with multiple years of experience and/or for any wrestlers, with a solid grasp of wrestling fundamentals, who want to add to their arsenal of techniques.
- Competition Thursdays, 6 - 7:30 pm: These practices are the opportunity for our CWC wrestlers to test out the moves they've been practicing all week! Thursday nights will feature mostly live wrestling and competition, and wrestlers of all ability levels (ages 8 and up) are encouraged to attend.

*In addition to the coaches listed above, there are a number of parents who have volunteered to coach and who have undergone a coaches training in order to assist this year. You will meet these parents as the season progresses. A big thank you to these parents/volunteers as well as to Coach Garland and the UVA Wrestling Coaching staff who will also be helping out this winter.
COME SUPPORT THE UVA WRESTLING TEAM TOMORROW (SUNDAY) AFTERNOON AS THEY TAKE ON OLD DOMINION!
Match starts at 1 pm at Memorial Gymnasium. This year we plan to put together our own cheering section of CWC wrestling. Come join us!
